Course Description: This course meets MnTC Goal Area 5 and 7. This course content is America’s 19th century, defined as the 1780’s to 1877. This course will give consideration to the Constitution of 1787, the George Washington administration, Jeffersonian policies, the War of 1812, the slavery controversy, the Civil War and Reconstruction and explore into the start of the Industrial Revolution

Course Competencies:

  1. Explore the development of the constitution.
  2. Explain the policies of the Washington administration.
  3. Analyze Jeffersonian America.
  4. Summarize the causes and events of the War of 1812.
  5. Investigate westward expansion.
  6. Examine the slavery issue.
  7. Analyze the sectional crisis.
  8. Explore the Civil War and explain the Reconstruction Era.
  9. Explore the Gilded Age and start of Industrialization.
