Welcome to the High School Special Education Website!

My name is Kristina Haugen.  I have been teaching special education for 20+ years. Before coming to the Ulen-Hitterdal School, I taught at DGF Middle School for 4 years and at Rothsay Public Schools for 12 years.  I grew up in Hawley, MN, where I currently live with my husband and two children.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, from Bemidji State University.  After substitute teaching for two years, I returned to college to pursue my Special Education licensure.  I attended Minnesota State University-Moorhead where I earned my EBD/ LD Special Education Licensures.

I hope your child has a great year learning with me!  I enjoy teaching all ages of students and I believe in the philosophy that each child can learn, but in their own way and in their own time.  Your child will receive instruction from me that is tailored specifically for their needs.

I am available for questions Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM.  You may call me at the school or reach me by email!  We can also set up a meeting if you would like to come in and visit with me.  I encourage open lines of communication throughout the school year.  I look forward to an amazing school year with your child!
