My 5 kiddos -Oliver, Emerson, AJ, Atticus, Eleaner

A little about Mrs. Holland….

I went to high school at Ada-Borup, then went on to college at MSUM where I got my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in Middle School Mathematics.  After graduating in 2003, I was a substitute teacher for about 1 1/2 years then began teaching 9th grade Algebra here at Ulen-Hitterdal.  In 2005, I got a job teaching 7th & 8th grade Math and 6th grade Art at Cloquet Middle School (near Duluth).  I was there for one year and then got a job teaching High School Math at Nay Ah Shing High School on the Mille Lacs Reservation (near Onamia, MN).  While there I also had the opportunity to teach some college classes through the Fond Du Lac Tribal & Community College in Cloquet.  I taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Intro to Statistics.  After 2 years at Nay Ah Shing and Fond Du Lac, I went back up north and taught at the Duluth Edison Charter School.  I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math classes there.  During the 2 years in Duluth I also met my husband and got married.  Shortly after we got married my husband was transferred to a job at the Moorhead National Guard Armory so we moved back to the Felton area.  I taught Preschool and 3rd grade at Ada-Borup before getting my current position here at Ulen-Hitterdal.  I was very lucky to have student taught under Mrs. Rehder and then was able to work along side her for a couple of years before she retired.  I enjoy my job at Ulen-Hitterdal very much and am very happy to have my own children attending school here as well!

My husband, Shane, and I along with our 5 kids live outside of Felton with our dog, Bailey, 12 chickens, and a few barn cats.  Our son, AJ is in 10th grade and is involved in Band, Choir, FFA, Student Council, Yearbook, and Chess Club & Art Club. He also takes Voice & Violin lessons.  Our daughter, Ellie is in 8th grade and is taking Acting, Voice, & Piano Lessons and is involved in Band, Choir, Cheerleading, FFA, Student Council & Art Club.  Oliver, the middle child, is in 4th grade and is enjoying Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Piano lessons.  Our twin boys, Atticus & Emerson are 4 years old and started 4/5 Preschool this year.  They love to play outside, eat snacks, and have dance parties.  I have three step kids as well.  Reece and his wife, Jessie, and their two kids Harper and Hadrian, live just outside of Ulen.  My step-daughter, Mackenzie, is a physician assistant in Duluth.  My other step-son, Riley and his wife, Janah live and work in Cloquet, MN.  We have a very busy family and I love every minute of it!

Some of my hobbies are playing and teaching piano, reading and attending book club, quilting/sewing/crafts/baking – when I can find a few extra minutes, and spending time with my family.  I’ve also recently become fascinated with collecting bugs and looking at them under a microscope!  I absolutely LOVE it when students find new critters to bring in and we can check them out together!
